Silly Nita....

...You're supposed to take pictures of the things you knit and give away BEFORE you give them away!!

DUH!!

So...yeah, no photo of the baby blanket finished product because...well, I just kinda didn't do it.  I'm hoping that the blanket hasn't yet made it to its destination in hopes that I can get a photo snapped of it, but we'll see.  Sorry folks. It came out very nice and very soft after I washed it.  Classy will make a WONDERFUL cardigan, I'm sure.

Went to late night knitting at the LYS on Saturday where I had my wheel diagnosed for "clicking".  Thanks again, N, for helping me out and tightening a screw or two...I need to get me a small sized tool for maintenance of my wheel.  I really have gotten to like spinning and am working on another spool of some more of the Lorna top at a much more consistent "lace-weighty" type of thickness, and it looks good.  I can't wait to ply them when I'm done.  Also picked up another bobbin for the wheel, and 2 skeins of purple "Classy" (am unsure of the name) for my niece who's birthday is today.  We celebrated this on Saturday at her request.  She's turned into quite a neat kid for 16!!  She sure takes after me.  She's into music (percussion) and she's smart.  Need I say more!!   My sister who lives in D.C. is also having a birthday today!!  Mine is at the end of the month!  Whee!

Saw "Wanted" last night.  I think my taste in movies has changed.  I LOVE the nonsensical, "that could never happen" type of movies.  I didn't know it was based on a comic which made it that much more fun.  It was fast paced and totally cool.  If you like movies like that, go see it.  Played Ping Pong with long time bud R...(shaking fist raised in the air)"YOU WON THIS ROUND, BUT I'LL BE BACK AND CHALLENGE YOU TO ANOTHER ROUND..DAMN YOU!!"

...we take our "pong" seriously  :)

Squee!!

There was a package on my doorstep when I got home from work today.

I had forgotten I'd ordered it.

Got me a nid-nod!!  I re-skeined my handspun...and whoa...nice.
I wish you could see it...
I need batteries!!  :)

FO and WIP's...

Within the next 6 hours, the new baby blanket will be completely finito...sans a good wash in the machine and a weaving in of the few ends...yay me!!  Took me just over a month to complete.  I'll take a pic of it completely blocked later, but this is what I'm yakkin' about.
Sheepblankie2
It's way big, but that just means it'll be loved well into toddler-hood!!
Dun, Done and Dunne!!

I've had to go through my stash a few times, and have found projects, I done forgot I had.  I started a lot of scarves for other people a while back including the 3 on my project page at Ravelry for myself.  I haven't updated it lately so I think I'm going to do some updating, and some FO-ing for a while, before I start casting on for these myriad x-mas ideas I've all of a sudden can't wait to start...dammit

P.S. for LKD:
When are we gonna pick a pattern/yarn for the big boy??

Spinning & Stevie

Firstly,
I saw Stevie Wonder last night.
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, and did I say Wow?
StevieWonder
Wow.

Secondly,
I did some more plying before the concert.
PlyWoolSkein3

I think I'm getting better.

PlyWoolSkein2 It came out awfully more balanced than I thought it would.
I'm also discovering that I have the capability to make some pretty decent laceweight.

Though I think my goal now, is for consistency...I think I'm just a skoche above laceweight as a size I'm comfy with.

PlyWoolSkein4

Yeah, I like.

Spinning IMO's...so far...for a beginner... :)

I plied the rest of my BFL today.  I did a regular 2-ply, and I taught myself to Navajo ply.

Whee!!

123ply

The skein was small, and terribly unbalanced, but I know how to do it now!

LWTspun I'm also getting a much better feel for where I want my tension to be and how best to spin this wool, which is really sticky.  I've decided that it's not hard to spin, per se, but it's sure hard to get an even amount of wool out of the thing.  Even when I pre-draft, it's so sticky that I get such an uneven spin and with unsightly slugs, I'd rather use my very unorthodox method of drafting, which is quick and involves the shaking of my right hand...you'll just have to see it...

Nevertheless, I continue to be very into spinning now.  A bit obsessive, I must admit.  I took a personal day today from work.  My time was well spent...laundry, spinning, looking after mom. Shrek the Third and HP OOTP on HBO.  Nice.

STRPurpRain I just wanted to post this.  STR Purple Rain.  The picture DOES NOT do it justice.  I also wanted to personally curse my yarn friends who are evil who continue to support my yarn habit this past weekend...Holy paycheck, Batdude!!

UPDATE: I decided I didn't like the second bobbin of wool, so I decided to navajo ply it.  Note to self...don't navajo ply real sticky, unevenly spun wool...boy what a mess that was!!

A beginner spinner progress pictoral...

Curlicues2
This was spun my first time using the Victoria.
Mmmm...curlicues.

I spun 2 bobbins of this.  My second bobbin was a bit better.
They plied into this:

2-2plied
2 small, albeit well balanced skeins of handspun!!
Yay, me!!

I had some extra on a bobbin, and compared it to what I spun yesterday:
SpinProg
Now, the question is,
What do I start spinning next??

Fiberyikes

Hmmmmm...??

I am my own niddy noddy...

Impatience isn't a cardinal sin, but I'm sure it leads to them.

I plied my first spinning last week, and it's been sitting on the bobbin for at least that long.  I called my LYS hoping they had a niddy noddy I could buy, or come and use.  They have one at the store, but me being as busy as I usually am, I was unable to get there this week.  I told myself, I was going to use an old "roadie" cord wrapping technique for mic cords and guitar cords that would get my bobbin clear, and I'd get at least a decent showing of my yarn.  My forearm is about a foot long and if you bend your elbow as if you were flexing your bicep, put the end of the yarn in the palm of your hand, and wrap around your elbow, you can get a decent hanking out of it.  So my "shit and spin" as I so lovingly called it now looks like this:
 Firstyarn1 Firstyarn3 Firstyarn2

I shall not be so harsh with my words in the future...
<---patting myself on back :)

Uh oh...

I'm looking at Baby Camel down for spinning...

Halp...halp me...please....

Pick-churs!!

Well, I got off my butt and downloaded some pics because i promised them, and I'm just that kind of person.  I keep my promises.

First off...
SHIT 'N' SPIN!!!
Shit'n'spinMy first attempt at plying.
What can I say??
I'm learning.
Slowly.
Tighter is the word of the day.
Practice makes perfect, yes??

The scarf.
LaceRibbon
This is the lace ribbon scarf in Malabrigo lace Snowbird.
Pretty, no??
I have about 3 more feet to go, but this knitting really does a number
on my hands...ouch!

The commission.
Blankie2Progress This is my second attempt at this pattern.
just a different yarn. I love the yarn, wasn't so hot about the colors.
They're growing on me.

The bebeh.
God'rents'n'Ellie This past Sunday, Ellie was given a name...
They went with Mildred.
I jest.
We officially presented Ellie to the universe.  This is a pic of Mild...I mean Ellie with her Godparents.

I think that's all for now....Tune in next time when I spin something resembling yarn!!
