Wow, I haven't posted to this damn blog since just before I was laid off!!
October 22, 2010. My lay-off date. I was so happy, that I made the person who fired me feel good. How fun is THAT! So, there that is. So what happened after that??
Hairspray Happened!! (c)
It was such an intense event, I feel it needs it's own copyright. Holy crap. I dove headfirst into this project, and Oh. My Effing. Gawd, what a project. I even didn't show up until the last freakin' scene in the first act, and this thing was a lot of work. The show was hee-you-ge!! Costuming was a night-fucking-mare, dancing, heels, and the coup de gras, doing the entire run (12 shows) on laryngitis. Holy shit this thing was big!
BUT...it sold out every. last. show. Even the one we added at the end of our scheduled run. Holy crap. On top of that, I had the song that brought the audience to it's feet (quite literally on the last Saturday show) every night. What a rush! The people who I shared the stage with were incredible, the musicians in the pit, were AMAZING, the crew was stellar. I was so blessed to be a part of this show, I was just blessed beyond words.
So, after the show, I shut down. Quite literally. After a 2nd visit to an ENT for a larger dose of Prednisone and a peek at my vocal cords, I got sick the day before driving up to Eureka, CA to have some R&R for a week housesitting and taking care of kitties. Holy crap. The first 4 days of my time off was spent on a couch, huddled up, sipping ginger tea/ginger ale/ginger beer, and trying not to barf. Yay. After that, I was well enough to emerge and hang out with some old friends, do a little drinking, make some new friends (Hi, Wendy) and end my week off with good friends.
Since I've been home, there was a quiet Christmas, a drunken reveler during my first New Year's Eve gig who insisted I play Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven", which we don't, nor were we going to do, and then, just me being lazy, trying to get my vocal studio up and running. Oh yeah, and the choir. Oh yeah, and my vocal lessons. Oh yeah, and Kung Fu/Tai Chi. So, I haven't been doing TOO much.
Unfortunately, when I said I "shut down" that included my knitting as well. I have several UFO's to tend to. I recently found my neglected Lady Eleanor (rav link) which I so very badly need to pick up, because I love that pattern, not to mention a sweater for me, a baby blanket, Juno Regia, and now that there's a new Grand Nephew in the family, I gotta do up another sweater hat set for little Cyrus! Ugh. It never ends. I recently spent some time at my LYS, Purlescence Yarns. The reception I got after not having been there for so long was, shall we say, a great outpouring of love. I must not be a stranger to my yarn or my yarnies. I miss you, and will start stopping in soon guys, I swear! :)
As I said in my previous post, I've set myself up to lead the life I was meant to live. Huh. Look at that! :)
